Unmarked UNMARKED

Silver Reef Protestant Cemetery
Washington County,
Utah

There are many of these orange conical markers set in the cemetery, pounded in on metal railroad type stakes. Oddly enough, they tend to resemble a brass looking one that adorns the top of a headstone there. I tend to think they were placed to mark obvious graves which were otherwise unrecognized. They are not numbered, that in any way organized. I'd guess we saw over 20 of them. These might be somehow significant to the 1800's silver mine, which stands adjacent to this cemetery. Most of the buried are miners and relatives.
