dau of Wesley Cunningham Robey & Myrtle Melinda Ferguson
OBITUARY:
Mrs. Faun Robey Sorenson, 77, of Emerson, Georgia passed away of a lingering illness on 1 January 2006. Mrs. Sorenson was born on 3 December 1928 in Provo, Utah, the daughter of Myrtle Melinda Ferguson and Wesley Cunningham Robey. She married Lester O. Sorenson on 4 September 1952 in Elko, Nevada and has remained a faithful companion of 53 years.
Funeral services were held on 4 January 2006 at the Owen Funeral Home in Cartersville, Georgia with the Elder Allen Miller officiating with cremation following the services. Mrs. Sorenson was member of the Latter Day Saints, a homemaker and a loyal follower of her husband's military career through numerous relocations and distance from her birth family. She enjoyed reading, embroidering, sewing, flea markets, clipping coupons and was an avid dog lover taking in abandoned dogs whenever the occasion arose. Never a frugal person, she always thought of others and never hesitated to purchase a bargain just in case someone in the family ever needed anything. A specialist in stain removal, her eyes would light up whenever a family member sought help in removing a troubling stain.
Although stricken with Parkinson Disease, Diabetes, and Macular Degeneration, her spirits remained high and uncomplaining. True to her fame of celebrating New Year's with Dick Clark, she slipped from this life three minutes after the Big Ball dropped in New York on New Year's Eve, ending one life and beginning the celebration of a new one.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Arlene Berg; four sisters , Lois, Eva, Merle and Rhea; and two brothers, Clyde and Ned, the last remaining member of the family who passed away on 26 February 2006.
In addition to her loving husband, she leaves behind 3 children, Darlene Bittaker of Woodstock, Georgia; Sue Garza and Michael Sorenson of Emerson, Georgia; 12 grandchildren, Michelle, Melynda (Bill), Katherine, Wendy (Paul), Amanda (Jerome), Laurie, Denise (Jerry), Joey, Michael (Heather), Lawson (Jennifer), Becky (Rusty), Juliann (Martin) ; 22 great-grandchildren; a special niece, Karen Clark of Lindon, Utah; as well as other numerous nieces and nephews.
Although Mrs. Sorenson's journey with God has already begun, please join the family as they make their final farewell on 4 August 2006 at 10:00am in the Provo City Cemetery, Provo, Utah for the interment of her ashes and return to her family.
