The original monument carved by James Henry Brown in gray local sandstone with white Vermont marble plaques.

on reverse side of marker:
This memorial to William Hyde, founding leader of Hyde Park in 1860, was crafted in 1992, the donation of descendants and relatives. The fine artistry of his earlier monument inspired the present design. The original inscription was recarved.
