Orin Hatch was a member of the Mormon Batallion, along with his older brother Meltiar Hatch. They were privates, in Company C. Orin had two wives, (Elizabeth M Perry and Maria Thompson) and possibly an aunt (Pheby Wheeler Hatch) who share the same headstone. The headstone is a large obelisk type, with an orb on top. There are enscriptions on all four sides of the obelisk.
