Mattie Ellen Ekstedt was born the 17 March 1906 in Taylorsville, Salt Lake, Utah the first child of Niels and Laura Barker Ekstedt. Mattie died the 29 December 1999 in Orem, Utah, Utah and was buried the 3 January 2000.
Mattie married Norman Arthur Nowell the 27 October 1927 in Brigham City, Box Elder, Utah. They were later divorced. They were the parents of one daughter, Norine Patsy Nowell.
